Featured Soap - Drewspresso

What's that smell? Have you ever been cooking with onions, garlic, fish or chicken and then no matter how many times you wash your hands you still have that smell? Well, let me introduce you to our featured soap, Drewspresso!!

The first thing you notice about this soap is that it does not have Rayne in the name! That is because my son Drew wanted something named after him!! There's not a whole lot we can do with the name "Drew", but we try! One of the main things that is different with this soap is that instead of using water, we use a variety of coffees. Sometimes it's good ole New Orleans deep rich Chicory and sometimes it's Fair Trade Costa Rican coffee.
Have you ever been in a candle shop and the owner will have a bowl of coffee beans set to the side for you to sniff? The coffee beans are there to clear your olfactory glands so that you get a clearer nose in which to smell the next scent! Coffee is an odor neutralizer, and in our soap, it is there to help get rid of the odors off your hands and body! But, when coffee is introduced to sodium hydroxide, it heats up to 200 degrees and it does not give off a pleasant odor when it is then mixed with our luxurious oils.

For that reason we created our unique blend of Lemongrass, Star Anise and Bergamot Essential Oils. Lemongrass is a tropical grass native to southern India and Sri Lanka. It is considered to be an antiseptic and an astringent and known to help with oily skin and to help close pores. It can also be used as a deodorant to help curb perspiration. Because of it's odor masking ability, Lemongrass has gained a reputation in being a good insect deterrent. Because of it's odor neutralizing qualities we added it as one of our essential oils in our blend.

Star Anise essential oil with its licorice like scent, is widely known for its excellent masking properties. Hunters have been known to use Star Anise to cover the human scent when hunting and I have heard of fisherman rubbing Star Anise on their lines to attract the fish! It then became another oil in our neutralizing odor blend!

We've rounded out the mix with Bergamot Essential Oil which is a lovely, sweet, fruity, slightly spicy undertone scent which anchors our Lemongrass and Star Anise together and is also known to be an insect deterrent for its masking abilities. Our Bergamot is bergapten-free, which means it is not phototoxic. Bergamot is also known to help with eczema, psoriasis, acne, oily complexion and insect bites making this a triple threat in our odor neutralizing kitchen/body soap. What is great about this blend is that once you wash your hands or body with it, you have a neutral scent. You just smell clean!

As an added bonus in our Drewspresso Coffee Soap, we've left in the coffee grounds for exfoliation!! We know there are a lot of you who like that scrubby feeling when you're washing your hands or your body, so this is for you!

I love keeping one of our kitchen soap bars right by the sink so that everytime I'm cooking, I can just grab it and keep my hands odor free! Don't worry about any muss or fuss, because we have our handmade wooden soap decks that the soap can sit on and drain so there won't be any gooey or sticky soap!

I have found that our soap will even get rid of the gasoline smell!! We were taking a trip to Austin and had to stop off for gas and right when I was taking the pump out of my tank, some gas flipped back and landed on my shirt! I'm sure some of you have experienced this, right? Well, I didn't want to sit in the car for another hour smelling like gas. I happened to look through my purse and I had a small sample of my Drewspresso soap with me. I went into the gas station bathroom and proceeded to soap up my shirt and hands!! Yes, I walked out of there with a giant wet spot on my shirt, BUT, I no longer smelled of gasoline and the rest of the trip was quite comfortable!

Oh, and the real reason for making this soap in the first place? Well, I don't cook all that often, but we did raise goats for awhile. Those of you that have goats know that the boy goats or bucks, do not have a pretty smell. Well, they smell like a barn and that's kind of putting it nicely!! We had a buck that stunk pretty bad and he liked to be pet! He was pretty much worse than a skunk and you could not get that smell off your hands for nothing!! I talked to some soaping friends of mine who also had goats and they said, you make soap, make yourself some coffee soap!! TADAH, Drewspresso was born! I could then pet our stinky goat all I wanted knowing that I could go in and wash my hands and smell sparkling clean again!
Try one of our bars today and see for yourself!
